These
medical illustrations depict a large malignant tumor with characteristic
abnormal vasculature and the main steps of the angiogenic process, which
creates the abundant microvasculature supporting malignant tumors. These
illustrations were part of a scientific exhibit discussing tumor physiology and
the use of radiological imaging for early detection and improved drug delivery
systems. The large “tumor” illustration also serves as an eye-catching image
for the exhibit, as well as a future full page spread along with the article
publication. These illustrations were produced for a scientific exhibit and
journal publication viewed by radiology and oncology professionals.
